Font - I asked to step down from my current role.. what happened next may shock you.. Hey guys, going to be very vague here. Long story short, I requested to step down from my current role due to being overworked, this was on a Saturday. On Tuesday my boss and I met to discuss. We came to an agreement that in 3 weeks if I still feel that way then he will sign off on a lateral move or me stepping down. Okay cool. Today, I see my job posted, and not just that, but a higher rate then what they offe

Font - I feel that this is a scummy move, do you agree? Any additional perspective? Update; wow, I wasn't expecting all of these responses. Wow, thank you most for all the kind words and additional perspective. Let me add some additional context.

Font - Beginning of June I was in the process of negotiating my raise with my current boss. In turn my boss left the company due to medical issues. He in turn is being filled in by two people. At the beginning of the month they sent me a document to sign which included my raise. Which I was told was non negotiable. And while questioning it I still did, it went ignored. I then had something reversed that my previous boss took off my plate, which adds an additional 72 hour on call rotation. (Which

Font - Tao_Te_Gringo 13 hr. ago So just apply for the new job posting. You sound like the ideal candidate. While you're at it, probably should apply for a few others as well. 1.8k Reply Share

Font - DudesJustBrowsin. 12 hr. ago Said company will probably put the higher salary to draw candidates in. Entice them. Then say you're perfect for this role but you're experience or background isn't on par for what we need. So we can start you lower (at what you're making or less) with the false promise to raise them to that eventually.. which never happens because company's are shady like that 213 Reply Share

Font - NoSpanking Allowed. 12 hr. ago They used you for as long as you let them get away with it, now they know a new person won't accept it on the same terms. Happens all the time. 214 Reply Share

Font - midwest73 14 hr. ago Par for the course. I'd start looking. They're either going to let you move, but cut pay, or more likely, "Thank you for your service. We went over things and feel it is best we go in another direction. You will get nothing and like it. Here is the door now get out." 172 Reply Share

Font - LifePedalEnjoyer. 12 hr. ago Employers/managers get offended when people want to step down in my experience.

Font - stinstin555 12 hr. ago I am petty. I would print out 3 copies of the posting and 3 copies of my resume: 1 to boss, 1 to bosses boss, 1 to HR.

Font - NinjaSelect3581 - 13 hr. ago It is a scummy move, agreed. They probably hope that they can get the next person to do what you do without them feeling overworked. At least for a year or so. This says nothing about you. Correct me if I am wrong, but feeling overworked can easily stem from the fact that you feel underpaid. If you feel fairly compensated and acknowledged, I'd bet you have more energy.

Font - Eladiun 12 hr. ago So I am going to be honest with which most folks here aren't. If you were looking for a raise you kinda f up. When you walk in saying I'm overworked an I want to step down to a lower role or move to another department that's slower. I'm not sure what you expected?

Font - They need someone to do your job because they don't expect you to change your mind and the recruiter did a fresh salary pull from whatever service they use.

Font - If you wanted a raise, you walk in talking about all the work you are doing and what the market rate for your role is.

Font - Allocerr 13 hr. ago Gee, I've never been so shocked by a common shady move played by numerous employers of people that post on this sub.
